🛂 Tourist / Visit Visa

• Nigerian Citizens: Require a visa to enter Malaysia. Apply via the Malaysia eVISA portal at https://evisa.imi.gov.my or at the Malaysian High Commission in Abuja.
• eVISA: Single entry, USD 25–30. Valid 3 months from issue, allows 30-day stay.
• Visa on Arrival: Not available for Nigerian passport holders — must apply in advance.
• Requirements: Valid passport (6+ months), completed application, return ticket, hotel booking, bank statement (min. MYR 1,500 or USD 350 equivalent), passport photos, yellow fever certificate (required from Nigeria), travel insurance.
• Processing Time: 3–5 business days online; 5–10 working days at High Commission.
• Duration of Stay: 30 days initially, extendable at the Immigration Department of Malaysia.

• EMGS Fees: USD 100–150 for medical screening + application processing.
• Requirements: Offer letter, valid passport, completed EMGS application, medical examination report (done in Nigeria at EMGS-approved clinic), passport photos, bank statement (USD 3,000+ or scholarship letter), O-Level/WAEC results, A-Level or equivalent transcripts, police clearance.
• Student Pass issued for 1 year, renewable throughout the program. Must not exceed course completion date.
• Part-time work: 20 hours/week permitted during semester breaks (not during term time for most programs).

💼 Work Visa / Employment Pass

• Foreign professionals need an Employment Pass from the Immigration Department of Malaysia, applied by the employer.
• Categories:
  • Category I: Salary MYR 10,000+/month (5 years validity)
  • Category II: Salary MYR 5,000–9,999/month (2 years validity)
  • Category III: Salary MYR 3,000–4,999/month (1 year validity)
• Requirements: Job offer/contract, employer’s company registration, academic credentials (certified), professional qualifications, passport, passport photos, application fee.
• Post-study: Graduates from Malaysian institutions can apply for a Graduate Employability Pass to stay and seek work for 12 months after graduation.

• Long-term residence programme for foreigners wishing to live in Malaysia.
• Requirements: Offshore monthly income of MYR 40,000+ and a fixed deposit of MYR 1,000,000 in a Malaysian bank.
• Grants a 5-year renewable social visit pass (not citizenship, but stable long-term residency).

🏛️ Citizenship

• By Birth: Malaysia follows jus soli with conditions — children born in Malaysia are citizens only if at least one parent is a Malaysian citizen or permanent resident.
• By Naturalization: Requires 10 years of continuous lawful residence (out of the preceding 12 years) as a Permanent Resident. Must speak Malay language, be of good character, and renounce prior citizenship. Dual citizenship is NOT permitted in Malaysia.
• Permanent Residence: After 5+ years as an Employment Pass holder with consistent employment and clean record, you may apply for Permanent Resident (PR) status.

• Yellow fever vaccination certificate is mandatory for all travelers from Nigeria to Malaysia.
• Nigerian students are among the top international student groups in Malaysia.
• WAEC, NECO, and JAMB results are widely accepted by Malaysian universities for admission.
