  • Portugal: 5 years legal residence → citizenship. Portuguese Golden Visa (real estate/investment pathway) available.
  • France: 5 years residence → citizenship. Must demonstrate French language proficiency (B1 level).
  • By Birth: Most EU countries follow jus sanguinis. Germany, France, Spain, and some others offer jus soli with conditions (child must be born to long-term resident parents).

🇳🇬 Nigeria-Specific Tips for Schengen Visa

  • Apply early — Schengen embassies in Nigeria (especially France and Germany) have appointment wait times of 2–8 weeks.
  • A strong bank balance history (not just one big deposit) is critical. Embassies check patterns, not just current balance.
  • Travel insurance must cover the entire Schengen trip and be valid for all member states.
  • Prior travel history to any visa-required country (US, UK, UAE, Canada) greatly improves your Schengen approval chances.
  • Employment stability is key — same employer for 2+ years is ideal. Self-employed must show robust business financials.
